Mike opens the episode this week with Dustin Fritzmeier, crop consultant, Nutrien Ag Solutions, in Kansas about late corn planting concerns, planting plans and options, herbicide applications and test plots.

Alyssa Badger, vice president, global operations, High Ground Dairy, joins Mike at the desk to talk dairy markets, recapping what happened in the markets over the last several months, as well as in the recent weeks, including: cheese prices and international markets, bullish opportunities for cheese, the HPAI impact, milk production, butter volatility, Chinese markets, marketing insights.

Greg Soulje is in with a weather forecast for the week.

Mike was in Washington, D.C. recently, and talked to Rep. Nikki Budzinski, D-Ill., about ag in the Decatur area, including a new tech hub for bioprocessing and fermentation, as well as a workforce development grant.

Mike also talked to Beth Ellikidis, VP, agriculture and environment, Bio, about what “bio” actually means, particularly in the ag industry, as well as how Bio helps member companies with regulation with USDA, FDA and EPA.

Duane Murley, farm director, KWMT radio, Fort Dodge, Iowa, shares an update on crop progress in the area, as well as farmer sentiment.

Mike talks to Matt Coniglio, senior director, Farm Progress, about Farm Progress Show product launches and why the show is helpful to farmers learning about new products.

Ted McKinney, CEO, National Association of State Departments of Agriculture, talks about what the organization’s members are doing to manage HPAI.
