In mid-June, National Pork Board staff and U.S. pork producers traveled to Mexico City for U.S. Meat Export Federation’s (USMEF) inaugural U.S. Red Meat Symposium. They also had the opportunity to explore the Mexican market and better understand USMEF's presence and project focus to promote, differentiate and diversify U.S. pork and beef exports.

The Symposium brought together more than 150 U.S. exporters and Mexican importers to showcase U.S. products. Participants were able to explore demand for and promotion of U.S. Pork in wet markets, mid- and upscale retail establishments and meet with importers during a grilling workshop featuring preparation methods for pork and trade show.

The Mexican market is incredibly important for the U.S. Pork industry and has more room to grow for both volume and value. Joining us to talk about the trip and the opportunities that Mexico holds is Courtney Knupp, NPB vice president of international market development, and Pat Bane, Illinois pork producer and NPB board member.
