CJ America Inc. and Sanimax Marketing Ltd. announced a new strategic partnership for the distribution of amino acids to the Canadian feed industry.

For CJ America, this partnership provides an opportunity to renew its focus on servicing the Canadian feed industry.

In 2011, CJ America — whose parent company, CJ CheilJedang in South Korea, is a top food manufacturer — announced its commitment to the North American market by planning to build a lysine production plant in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, by 2014.

As a leading marketer and distributor of value-added animal proteins and feed ingredients in North America, Sanimax said it plans to leverage current business activities and serve a wide range of customers through its plants in Canada and the U.S.

“The new plant in Iowa will demonstrate CJ's commitment to the North American feed industry,” Mark Niles, general manager at CJ America, said. “We are confident that with Sanimax supporting the distribution of our amino acids, customers will be able to count on CJ long term."

Distribution of CJ America's lysine, threonine and tryptophan will begin immediately, while lysine from the new plant is expected early next year.
